April notebook: PFM’s predisposition + one big acquisition

Sensor Tower’s surprise acquisition of data.ai has sparked several thoughts in the investment world and wider app space. At the top of my mind was, ‘What drove the sale?’
Some ideas:
- Revenue: Both companies benefit from becoming one clear market leader in the app insights industry. Less competition = price increases.
- Costs: With widespread layoffs reported already, cost savings could be worth it alone.lly data.ai’s data provider partnerships in Asia, could’ve been particularly attractive.
