AGRICULTURE AND LATIN AMERICA
Latin America is an important exporter of food and agricultural products (16% of total exports, and only 4% of total imports), making the region the largest net exporter of agricultural commodities in the world.
Currently, Latin America is the primary global supplier of:
- Bananas – 60% of global supply
- Soybeans and sugar – 50%
- Coffee – 45%
- Corn, beef, and poultry – 30%
