Shane Conway is a researcher at Kepos Capital, a systematic Global Macro hedge fund in New York. Kepos investment strategies are data driven and the research process employs a variety of statistical and machine learning techniques. Prior to Kepos, Shane was a researcher at AQR Capital. Formerly, he worked at Millburn Ridgefield and Goldman Sachs.
Don is the General Counsel of Neudata. In addition to managing the company's legal affairs, Don leads the review of the compliance and regulatory aspects of new datasets and assists with product development. He previously served as Legal Counsel at Davidson Kempner Capital Management LP, where he onboarded third party research providers and conducted related due diligence. Don started his career as a research analyst on a merger arbitrage trading desk.
Don holds a JD from the Fordham University School of Law and a BA from Washington University in St. Louis. He has received CIPP/E and CIPP/US certifications from the International Association of Privacy Professionals.
Brian is the COO and Partner at Off the Chain Capital, the #1 Performing Blockchain Investment Fund for the Last Four Years as ranked in the HFRI database. He has developed a robust background in digital assets, technology, and investment entering the bitcoin ecosystem in 2012. Brian has written four books covering Bitcoin, Blockchain and other advanced technologies. Prior to Off the Chain, Brian served as COO & Managing Director scaling the startup Capital Innovators as its second employee into a top-ranked Accelerator program for 5 years, raising 3 private venture funds and 1 corporate venture fund, and investing in and managing 137 high-growth tech startups that raised over $400 MM in follow-on investment and created over 2000 jobs with a $1.1 billion exit in Gainsight. Brian founded a Blockchain consulting company in 2016 providing education, strategy consulting and product development resources to startups, mid-market businesses, corporations, and country governments globally. His expertise and knowledge in the tech space have afforded him over 70 features in publications such as Forbes, Inc., TechCrunch, Entrepreneur, EQ, and many more. Brian has performed over 60 national and international speaking engagements discussing advanced technologies and investment.
Nikita is a portfolio manager at Fasanara Capital, London based quant hedge fund.
Matt Forrest is the Director of Spatial Data Science at CARTO, which focuses on creating tools that solve geospatial problems. Using advanced data science techniques, Matt works to find solutions to business questions by understanding the role that space and place have on companies across many industries. Matt has been working in geospatial for 10 years and is also an award-winning cartographer, having graduated from the University of Wisconsin - Madison with degrees in Geography and Sociology.
Sylvain is an engineer and entrepreneur, passionate about big data and artificial intelligence technologies He co-founded SESAMm, an innovative FinTech company developing Natural Language Processing algorithms and applying them to a huge data lake of more than 14B textual contents (news, blogs, social media, forums). SESAMm’s goal is to help asset managers, funds, private equity firms and banks make the right investment decision in a differentiating and efficient way by leveraging the power of big data and behavioral finance.
Inna is a Senior Data Scientist and Quantitative Researcher at RavenPack, specialised in global macro investment strategies and macroeconomics. Prior to joining RavenPack in July 2020, Inna worked for three years at Goldman Sachs in London, in the Global Portfolio Solutions (GPS) Group and the Investment Strategy Group, as a macro researcher. Her main projects there included thematic research on the impact of demographics on inflation and asset prices, and building an in-house nowcasting infrastructure. Inna holds a PhD and an MRes in Economics from the London School of Economics, a BA from Cambridge, and is a CFA Charterholder.
PJ is the founder of DevRelate.io and a board member of Open Sourcing Mental Illness (OSMIhelp.org). He is an organizer of DevOps Days Buffalo, CodeDaze, and ElixirDaze. Additionally, PJ is a developer, writer, speaker, and musician. He is known to travel the world speaking about programming and the way people think and interact. He is also known for wearing hats.
Shane Kehoe, SwissBorg Ventures, Managing Partner leading the team investing on behalf of SwissBorg and the community in the most promising early-stage blockchain technology projects that strategically align with the core values of SwissBorg.
Shane was the Co-Founder at SVK Crypto VC, London. Overseeing the flagship fund which invested into the most promising and early stage blockchain technology projects with investments along side Kleiner Perkins, Google Ventures, Galaxy Digital, Vulcan Capital, Fidelity, Block.One and Alibaba.
An experienced portfolio manager with more than 20 years investment, Venture Capital and Hedge Fund Management experience. Shane is crypto and blockchain obsessed with a deep passion, belief and vision for a decentralised future.
Shane was formerly a Hedge Fund manager and Partner at BlueCrest Capital Management ($35bn AUM) and ran their global equity capital markets business focusing on all global IPO's for the European Equity Long/Short and Emerging Markets fund.
Joanie Kim works on the Thematic Investment Strategies team within Morgan Stanley’s Equity Sales & Trading department and provides macro / thematic investment strategies and custom basket product solutions. She joined Morgan Stanley in 2015 and has worked as the Financials and Real Estate sector specialist from 2019 to 2020. She holds a B.A. from Harvard University in Applied Mathematics.
Petter Kolm is the Director of the Mathematics in Finance Master’s Program and Clinical Professor at the Courant Institute of Mathematical Sciences, New York University. Previously, Petter worked at Goldman Sachs Asset Management where his responsibilities included researching and developing new quantitative investment strategies. Petter has coauthored many articles and books on quantitative finance and financial data science and financial data science, serves on several editorial boards for academic journals, professional associations, and company advisory boards. He holds a Ph.D. in Mathematics from Yale, an M.Phil. in Applied Mathematics from the Royal Institute of Technology, and an M.S. in Mathematics from ETH Zurich.
Petter’s work and research interests include alternative data, data science, econometrics, forecasting models, high frequency trading, machine learning, portfolio optimization w/ transaction costs and taxes, quantitative and systematic trading, risk management, robo-advisory and investing, smart beta strategies, transaction costs, and tax-aware investing.
Kelly Koscuiszka, Partner at Schulte Roth & Zabel, advises private funds on regulatory and compliance matters, with a particular focus on the Investment Advisers Act of 1940, and works closely with clients undergoing SEC examinations. Kelly also advises clients on privacy and data security as well as the challenges presented by new technologies and alternative data. Kelly regularly leads training sessions for clients, including on topics such as alternative data, insider trading and best practices for electronic communications and technology usage. When necessary, she represents clients in regulatory investigations and enforcement actions by the SEC, DOJ and FINRA as well as in complex civil litigation matters.
Kelly received her J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center and her B.A. from Rutgers University.
Boris Lerner is the Global Head of Data for the Morgan Stanley Investment Research division, where he is responsible for all aspects of data acquisition, ingestion, management, analysis, visualization, and distribution to clients. Boris works closely with individual analysts to help incorporate data-driven insights into their research process, and deliver their content and ideas to clients in a digital form. Boris joined Morgan Stanley in 2003 and has worked on a broad range of projects over the years, including quantitative equity and derivative research, quantitative modelling, data analytics, and structuring.
Before taking on the current role, Boris was the Global Head of Quantitative Equity Research at Morgan Stanley, focusing on the quantitative analysis of the equity markets, developing alpha models, evaluating alternative data sources, and applying quantitative techniques to traditional fundamental research. Prior to joining the Morgan Stanley Research department, Boris co-headed the Morgan Stanley Quantitative Investment Strategies (QIS) structuring team in North America, where he developed cross-asset, rules-based hedging and risk premia investment strategies for use in diversified institutional portfolios. Boris holds a Master’s degree in Financial Mathematics from Columbia University, and a Bachelor’s degree in Finance and Information Technology from the New York University Stern School of Business.
Rado Lipuš, CFA is the founder and CEO of Neudata, an alternative data intelligence and SaaS provider. Prior to founding Neudata, Rado's professional experience spans 20 years of FinTech leadership, quantitative risk management and data innovation for the buy-side. An acknowledged expert, Rado is regularly invited to speak about alternative data at conferences and industry events.
Sam Livingstone is the Head of Data Science & Data Engineering at Jupiter Asset Management. Previously, he was a data scientist in Global Equities at Citadel. Prior to that, he worked as a quant researcher sitting on the quantitative equity products investment desk at Schroders, as a quant analyst at Willis Towers Watson after beginning his career as a sales trader at IG Group in 2010.
Sam holds a first-class honours degree in Economics & Business (UWE) and a Master of Science degree in Economics, Accounting & Finance from the University of Bristol. Sam is also a Chartered Financial Analyst. Sam is currently studying for a PhD in sustainable machine learning (Faculty of Engineering, Department of Computer Science) at University College London.
Shing Lo is a partner in the London office of Latham & Watkins and a member of the Emerging Companies Practice.
Ms. Lo regularly advises founders, high growth companies, and investors in venture capital financings and M&A transactions, with a particular focus on the technology sector.
Dr. Stephen Malinak is Global Head – Quantitative Research and Development in the Strategy &
Planning Department at the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority (ADIA). Previously, Stephen was Chief
Data and Analytics Officer at Truvalue Labs, where he led a quantitative research team in applying
artificial intelligence and machine learning techniques to create new financial signals from
unstructured data.
An industry leader in quantitative analytics at Thomson Reuters for more than a decade, Stephen
headed the StarMine analytics team building over 15 quantitative factor models for global investors in
multiple asset classes. He has an extensive track record of successful predictive models based on a
wide variety of data sets using techniques grounded in sound fundamental reasoning across
numerous domains.
He attended college at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where he received his S.B. in
Electrical Engineering, and went on to receive his M.S. and Ph.D. in Engineering-Economic Systems
from Stanford University.
Anju Marempudi is the founder and CEO of IntelliBusiness, Inc. d/b/a EventVestor, the most
comprehensive smart data platform for event-driven first-order alternative data. Anju works with
many of the large quantitative and quantamental firms, providing data and insights into key
corporate market-moving events including unusual events and forward calendar events. Anju
has over two decades of experience in financial data and analytics, management consulting,
and information technology. Anju holds an MBA from The Wharton School of the University of
Pennsylvania and currently the Chair of The Wharton Fintech Network of the Wharton Club of
New York.
Ciprian Marin is a Director of Quantitative Research and Portfolio Manager/Analyst on Lazard's Equity Advantage team. He began working in the investment field in 1997. Prior to joining Lazard in 2008, Ciprian was a Senior Portfolio Manager at State Street Global Advisors (SSgA), managing European, UK and Global funds. He was also responsible for quantitative research on the European team of the Global Active Equity Group. Prior to joining SSgA, Ciprian was a Quantitative Analyst at Citigroup where he focused on developing stock selection models, statistical arbitrage trading strategies and factor research. Previously, he was a quantitative research associate at Nikko Salomon Smith Barney. Ciprian has an MBA in Finance from the International University of Japan and a BS in International Economics from the Academy of Economic Studies Bucharest. Ciprian is a Certified Investment Adviser (UK). He holds FINRA (formerly NASD) Series 7 and JASDA Series 2 licenses.
Sarah brings 20+ years of leadership experience over which she consistently delivered high quality, trustworthy, and ambitious results on a lean budget. Sarah has shepherded numerous startups to success as well as conducted two technical turnarounds of large privately held companies. She also serves as a leading member for the SIIA Financial Information Standards Division (FISD) Alt Data Council which is dedicated to establishing data best practices to mitigate legal & compliance risks in the web data extraction industry. Sarah is a graduate of Georgetown University.
Ashby Monk is the Executive and Research Director of the Stanford Global Project Center, and was named by CIO Magazine as one of the most influential academics on institutional investing. He is also a member of the Future of Finance Council at the CFA Institute. Monk is also the Head of Institutions at Addepar and co-founder of Long Game Savings and FutureProof Technologies. He holds a Doctorate in Economic Geography from Oxford University, a Master’s in International Economics from the Universite de Paris I - Pantheon Sorbonne and a Bachelor's in Economics from Princeton University.
Dean is responsible for leading, developing and expanding Neudata’s events programme.
Having spent the last decade creating, building and scaling conference and content businesses within the FinTech and Energy sectors, Dean has worked with some of the most recognisable global brands on B2B events of all sizes. Dean co-founded two conference companies in 2013 and exited through acquisition in early 2020.
Dean holds a BA Hons degree in Theatre and Performance Studies from Warwick University.
Matt leads Consumer Markets Business Development for the AWS Data Exchange by helping customers more easily find and connect to new data sources. Prior to AWS, Matt managed Data Distribution for 1010data (2016-2019) and was a Business Developer for Two Sigma’s Alpha Capture Strategy (2007-2016).
Jon is the founder of Anduril Partners, an investment and advisory firm focused on the application of data-driven processes. Jon has over 20 years of technology and financial services experience as a portfolio manager, chief data officer, and has served on several board and in advisory roles, including Aiera (advanced, self-learning models, augmented with human insights), Arbor Advisory Group (Investor Relations and Corporate Communications), Aptiviti (360-degree due diligence platform for decision makers), Connacht Asset Management, Crux Informatics (ETL delivery platform for normalized data ingestion), Equity Data Science (decision workflow platform), and SESAMm (modular machine learning engine for signal and investment strategy creation). He recently served as a board advisor for Prattle (investment research through quantifying language - acquired by Liquidnet), and for Kensho Technologies (artificial intelligence for financial services) the largest acquisition of its kind by S&P Global.
Previously, Jon served as the Chief Data Officer at Goldman Sachs Fundamental Equities. This was the first appointed role in the Asset Management Division recognizing Jon’s data driven approach as Portfolio Manager on the Technology Opportunities Fund demonstrating industry leading return on invested capital metrics (AUM growth during firm tenure from ~$600M to $4B).
Jon holds a BA in Business Administration from the University of St. Thomas, an MBA from the University of Chicago, and is a graduate of the MIT Sloan School of Management executive program in Artificial Intelligence: Implications for Business Strategy.
Khing is Founder/CEO of AlphaSwap. Previously, Khing was Founder/CIO of Eyck, a European event-driven and distressed hedge fund. Khing started his career at Goldman Sachs where he worked in the Special Situations Investing Group, followed by roles as an investor/portfolio manager at hedge funds Fortress and Bardin Hill (f.k.a. Halcyon). Khing holds a Master of Science in Econometrics from Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam.
Mike joined Consumer Edge in 2016. He currently serves as the Chief Revenue Officer and is responsible for all commercial facets of the business. Mike was previously a Managing Director at Stifel Financial for over 8 years providing research and trading services to key institutional clients of the firm. Prior to that, he spent 9 years in various institutional Sales roles at Bear, Stearns & Co., Kaufman Bros. and Merrill Lynch. In his spare time Mike enjoys dad’ing, boxing, cooking, dancing and practicing his Spanish.
Stacie Rabinowitz has been with Consumer Edge for eight and a half years. She began developing cutting-edge research based on survey data, POS data, and price checks on the Consumer Edge Research side of the house before becoming the founding team member at Consumer Edge Insight. At Consumer Edge Insight, she currently leads the Data Strategy team in helping develop products and analyses to help clients better leverage the company’s broad range of alternative data offerings. She also oversees the company’s Thought Leadership efforts with the publication of Insight Flashes on alternative data ranging from credit card to webscrape to social media sentiment, as well as the company’s Transact U client webinar series. She has an MBA from Harvard Business School and a BS in Economics and Computer Science from Duke University.
Waqar Rashid is Director of Data at Aspect Capital, having joined the systematic investment manager in December 2006. He is responsible for the entire set of data requirements for all of Aspect’s quantitative programmes. With over twenty years of experience in the industry, Waqar Rashid has held various roles including: Quantitative Analyst in the Equity Strategy Team at Goldman Sachs; Quantitative Analyst in the Equity Quant-Macro Trading Desk at Nations Bank; Head of Quant Research at IBJ Asset Management and Principal of Equinox Capital Management, where he ran European and US Equity Statistical Arbitrage. Waqar Rashid has an M.Sc. in Mathematical Economics and Econometrics from the London School of Economics and a B.A. in Economics and Mathematics from Sussex University.
Nicholas holds a BA in Management and Finance from the University of Leicester. Prior to joining Neudata, he interned in M&A, Private Equity and other quantitative roles at Lazard, Odey Asset Management, SEB, Moonvalley Capital, D'E Capital and NOAH Advisors, covering Technology, Energy, Infrastructure and Retail within Europe and Latin America. He is an English, Spanish and Italian speaker and is currently working towards attaining the CFA designation.
Alex has extensive experience in FS industry, previously working for an investment bank and a consulting firm before completing his masters in Data Science degree from Imperial College London.
Evan A. Schnidman, Ph.D. is the founder and Managing Partner of EAS Innovation Consulting and was previously the founder and CEO of Prattle as well as the Head of Data Innovation at Liquidnet.
In his capacity at EAS Innovation Consulting, Evan specializes in providing data and technology strategy services to both large corporations and emerging startups. Evan’s expertise in innovation has allowed him to consult to C-suite executives at numerous large corporations. Evan also serves as an advisory board member to a diverse set of startups across finance, insurance, law and policy. At present, Evan is on the advisory board of Aiera, AltHub, Arbor Advisory Group, Astrocyte Research, Cyber Atomics, EventVestor, GeoQuant, Gravity AI, Index Standard, Invisage Alpha, Jaxon.AI, Mind Alliance, New Constructs, Suretys, Taiyo and Xtant Real (RDA Index).
Prior to EAS, Evan served as both the CEO of Prattle and the Head of Data Innovation for Liquidnet. Launched in 2014, Prattle is a financial research automation company that analyzes the content of market-moving communications from central banks, corporations and regulators generating both tradable data and automated research reports. In early 2019, Prattle was acquired by Liquidnet as part of an initiative to build a global investment network. Evan remained with Prattle as part of Liquidnet until April of 2020.
Evan started his career as an academic. He earned his Ph.D. from Harvard University and served as faculty at Brown University. During his time in academia, Evan authored and co-authored numerous academic articles and a book titled How the Fed Moves Markets. Throughout his academic career, Evan also had a robust consulting practice evaluating economic and political risk for large multinational corporations as well as advising small and midsize financial institutions on how to utilize technology to streamline their operations.
Jeremy Scott is the Head of Investor Analytics in Similarweb’s Investor Solutions and manages the Stock Intelligence product. Prior to Similarweb, Jeremy was a Director and Senior Research Analyst at Mizuho covering Food, Restaurants & Delivery. He has worked in similar roles at CLSA and Morgan Stanley. Jeremy brings nearly a decade of sell-side experience to Similarweb and specializes in building robust predictive models for complex industries in order to generate investment opportunities for clients. He is a graduate of Lafayette College and a CFA charter holder.
Andrew Sheets is a Managing Director and Chief Cross-Asset Strategist at Morgan Stanley. He is responsible for identifying key trends and inconsistencies across global asset classes. Prior to his current role, he was the firm’s Chief European Credit Strategist from 2009 to 2014 and spent 10 years as part of the credit research department in both the US and Europe. Andrew and his team have been recognized multiple times by Institutional Investor for their work in Research. He holds a Sc.B. degree in applied mathematics and economics from Brown University. He is a regular contributor to CNBC and Bloomberg, and is a member of the Global Investment Committee for Morgan Stanley Wealth Management.
Daryl is Head of Research at Neudata. He and his team are responsible for researching and discovering alternative datasets for a wide range of asset managers worldwide. In doing so, Neudata are able to deliver objective advice to clients on exactly which datasets are most appropriate for their investment strategy.
Jose is bilingual fluent in Spanish and English and holds a first-class degree in Advertising and Marketing Communications. His areas of research interest include alternative analysis of corporate filings, advertising expenditure, and the wider alternative data landscape in South America. Jose is currently working towards attaining CFA designation.
I joined Sovereign in 2014 after spending five years with Experian plc where I was Corporate Development Director, covering M&A activity in the UK and EMEA. Whilst there I worked on a broad range of transactions, with a focus on software, data, and analytics businesses.
Vladimir is Head of Quantitative Research at CLS. He and his team apply machine learning to provide valuable insights for FX market participants. Vladimir is also responsible for the creation and enhancement of CLS’s FX alternative datasets. Prior to joining CLS, Vladimir held quantitative roles at Nomura and Credit Suisse and was a Visiting Researcher at Linkoping University, Sweden and Ghent University, Belgium. He holds a Dr. Sc. Ing degree in Systems Engineering from Riga Technical University, Latvia, and an MBA (Finance) from the University of Arizona, USA. Vladimir is a member of CFA (UK) Society and a Certified Financial Risk manager (GARP).
Artemiza has over 15 years of investment management experience. Before co-founding Integrated Quantitative Investments, Artemiza was most recently a quantitative researcher at Man Numeric. Her research efforts focused on alpha signals, data processing, and model construction. Prior to joining Man Numeric in 2015, Artemiza was at Russell Investments for over a decade, where, as senior researcher, she focused on quantitative manager selection. Artemiza has taught courses in finance, economics and statistics at the University of Washington and the University of Auckland, New Zealand. Artemiza has a PhD in finance from University of Washington, and an MSc and BSc(Hons) in mathematics from University of Auckland. Her academic research focused on asset pricing and portfolio optimization. She has published in prestigious academic journals such as the Journal of Finance, Journal of Portfolio Management, and Management Science.
Minhua is the Founding Member and Managing Partner of Weld Capital Management, a big and alternative data-driven quantitative hedge fund manager located in New York City. Prior to founding Weld, Minhua was a Portfolio Manager at Cubist Systematic Strategies, a division of Point 72. Before joining Point 72, Minhua was an equity derivatives trader at D. E. Shaw. Minhua graduated Summa Cum Laude from Harvard College with degrees in Physics and Mathematics.
