Mark Abraham is a Senior Partner and Managing Director in the Seattle office of the Boston Consulting Group. He leads BCG’s Personalization business, helping clients use data and technology to deliver 1:1 breakthrough customer experiences across channels. He has worked in the Seattle, New York, Sydney, Montreal, Chicago, Los Angeles and Paris offices helping a wide range of clients with iconic brands drive growth.
Stan Altshuller is a partner of Fusion, Atom's parent company and is the co-founder of Novus Partners, the analytics firm he and his partners started in 2007. Stan is an expert in data analysis, manager evaluation, product and marketing and has held various roles at Novus with those focus areas over the 12 years he was with the company. After Novus, he held a Director role was at Barclays, a Novus client, where he led a team charged with producing all of the research content for Barclays PB and presented the research at their conferences. Stan loves to read, build monster excel models, learn completely new skills and meet with FinTech leaders for inspiration.
Stacey Brandenburg advises clients on privacy, data security, and a range of emerging issues such as acquisition and use of alternative data. A veteran of the Federal Trade Commission’s Division of Privacy and Identity Protection (DPIP), Stacey regularly represents companies in FTC and State AG investigations involving consumer protection laws such as Section 5 of the FTC Act and state UDAP laws, the FTC’s endorsement and testimonial guidelines, and the California Consumer Privacy Act. She also works with companies proactively to reduce their regulatory exposure in connection with consumer-facing data collection and advertising-related disclosures.
In the alternative data space, Stacey works closely with clients to develop compliance programs that help them navigate new issues and data sets, balancing legal considerations with business needs. She assists in diligencing vendors, reviewing agreements, and evaluating and mitigating risk arising out of the acquisition and use of alternate forms of data, including webscraping, drone, and consumer data.
Sondra is the editor of Neudata's news platform. She covers the alternative data strategies of asset managers and data vendors, including new fund launches, product launches, fundraising, dataset usage and pricing. She takes a particular focus on legal, compliance and tax issues that impact buyers and sellers of alternative data.
Prior to joining Neudata, Sondra covered the machine learning and alternative data strategies of institutional investors for EQDerivatives/machineByte and commercial real estate debt markets for Real Estate Finance & Investment across the US, UK and Europe.
Sondra holds BA degrees in Economics and Public Communications from American University in Washington, D.C.
Ethan Chernofsky is the VP Marketing of Placer.ai.
Don is the General Counsel of Neudata. In addition to managing the company's legal affairs, Don leads the review of the compliance and regulatory aspects of new datasets and assists with product development. He previously served as Legal Counsel at Davidson Kempner Capital Management LP, where he onboarded third party research providers and conducted related due diligence. Don started his career as a research analyst on a merger arbitrage trading desk.
Don holds a JD from the Fordham University School of Law and a BA from Washington University in St. Louis. He has received CIPP/E and CIPP/US certifications from the International Association of Privacy Professionals.
Actively involved both in academic research and industrial applications, Ruggero’s experience spans across large projects within innovative technologies and applied research.
With over 25 years of experience Ruggero brings strategic leadership as well as technological and operational expertise, he has contributed to the growth and expansion of 5 successful startups both in the United States and across Europe and have operated successfully in both blue chip and early stage environments.
In addition to a PhD in Applied Mathematics, Ruggero holds an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, an Engineering degree from the Politecnico di Milano University and a Certificate in Quantitative Finance.
Mark leads Fable Data’s data modelling, compliance and feature development. He is fascinated by the wealth of information on human behaviour contained in our travel, media, and purchase patterns.
His expertise lies in driving strategic change as the conduit between data science and business activation. Mark started his career at Dunnhumby, the company that wrote the book on Customer Data Science. Over the last 15 years, he has worked with and for some of world’s biggest brands, including Best Buy USA, Nectar UK and Aeon Retail in Japan.
Mark has a PhD in Archaeological Science from Bristol University and an MChem in Chemistry from Oxford University.
Qingyi Huang heads up the Alphawise sector quant team of Equity Research at Morgan Stanley, where she is responsible for conducting quantamental research and using AI & alternative data to generate alpha signals. Qingyi worked as a Fixed Income Strat for three years before she moved to Equity Research. Prior to joining Morgan Stanley, Qingyi was an assistant professor at Guanghua School of Management at Peking University from 2011 to 2014. Qingyi holds a PhD degree from Kellogg School of Business and a BS degree from Fudan University.
Chandini Jain is the CEO and founder of Auquan. She has 10 years of global experience in finance with Deutsche Bank in Mumbai/New York and as a derivatives trader with Optiver in Chicago and Amsterdam. At Optiver, she traded volatility arbitrage strategies and was involved first hand in making the shift from discretionary to automated trading. Since 2017, she has been working on Auquan, a fintech startup employing new and cutting edge ML and Deep Learning techniques to solve financial prediction problems for hedge funds and asset managers.
Hinesh Kalian is Director of Data Science at Man Group. He is responsible for data strategy, data acquisition, data science and data science engineering across Man Group’s investment
managers. Hinesh was formerly Head of Data Science and Investment Implementation for Man AHL, where he was responsible for monitoring and verifying activity on the Man AHL trading
system, new data acquisition and strategy, data management and portfolio implementation. Prior to joining Man Group in 2010, Hinesh spent six years at JPMorgan.
Hinesh holds an MSc in Finance from the University of London.
Rado Lipuš, CFA is the founder and CEO of Neudata, an alternative data intelligence and SaaS provider. Prior to founding Neudata, Rado's professional experience spans 20 years of FinTech leadership, quantitative risk management and data innovation for the buy-side. An acknowledged expert, Rado is regularly invited to speak about alternative data at conferences and industry events.
Dr Chris Longworth is a Senior Scientist in GAM Systematic’s Cambridge team. He previously held the same role at Cantab Capital Partners, which became part of GAM Systematic in October 2016. Since joining the firm in 2010 Chris's focus has been on the development and improvement of investment strategies. Chris leads the firm’s efforts to incorporate novel or alternative data sources into the portfolio.
He also led the expansion of the firm’s tradable universe into new and unconventional markets and is responsible for the portfolio construction techniques used within GAM Systematic Discovery for trading exotic or less liquid assets. Prior to joining Cantab, Chris was part of the Machine Intelligence Laboratory at Cambridge University, where he obtained MPhil and PhD degrees. He also holds a BSc in Computer Science from Royal Holloway, University of London.
Ross MacDonald joined Morgan Stanley in October 2014 and has been part of the European Equity Strategy research team since January 2018. The strategy team focuses on equity market direction, thematic macro-related research, sector rotation and stock selection. Ross has a Bachelor’s degree in Economics and Finance from the University of Strathclyde and is a CFA Charterholder.
Karl is the founder and CEO of Dysrupt Labs. In the last 12 years, Karl has built Dysrupt Labs as a solutions provider in event forecasting. This is showcased since 2015 in Almanis, their leading public platform for predictions in geopolitics and macroeconomics. His academic publications on collective intelligence and prediction markets include event and risk forecasting in corporate governance, medical diagnosis, disease and epidemics, live sports, geopolitics, macroeconomics and elections.
Prior to Dysrupt, Karl was a senior banker and managed businesses with over 500 people, net earnings of more than $100M, gross trading limits of more than $50B, and trust assets of more than $100B. Karl also successfully conceived, designed, and launched multiple new products, end-to-end processes and new lines of business.
Karl has worked and lived in the USA, Asia and Australia, and has an MBA from Columbia University. He is also a qualified economist and accountant.
Dean is responsible for leading, developing and expanding Neudata’s events programme.
Having spent the last decade creating, building and scaling conference and content businesses within the FinTech and Energy sectors, Dean has worked with some of the most recognisable global brands on B2B events of all sizes. Dean co-founded two conference companies in 2013 and exited through acquisition in early 2020.
Dean holds a BA Hons degree in Theatre and Performance Studies from Warwick University.
Dominik Olszewski leads coverage on European Semiconductors and Tech Hardware within Equity Research. Previously, he covered European Utilities (German, UK, Nordic and Central European stocks) for six years. Before joining Morgan Stanley, where he has worked since 2011, Dominik read Law at Cambridge University
Philippe Pagnotta is in charge of Alternative Data within Shipfix. Philippe and his team are responsible for developing and structuring data solutions for Shipfix clients. He works closely with institutional clients and the trading community in order to help them leverage Shipfix data within their algorithms and trading strategies.
Prior to joining Shipfix in January 2020 Philippe was a Director at IHS Markit where he spent 15 years structuring and selling alternative data products to institutional clients. He joined Markit when it was a start-up of 50 employees until it became a $30B market cap with 14,000 staff.
Brian Peltonen is the Director of Data Analytics at Fidelity Management & Research Company (FMR Co.). His team is responsible for identifying alternative data sets and using AI to derive investment insights for Fidelity’s equity division. Prior to his current role, Brian worked in fundamental equity research as a member of the energy sector team. Before Fidelity, Brian worked as a programmer in the video game industry and as a consultant building AI models for corporate and governmental clients.
Duncan W. Robinson is the Director of Scientific Learning at Allspring Global Investments, a data scientist, a former options market-maker and the creator of several patent-pending inventions covering alternative data, including ESG, SDGs, data privacy and signal evaluation. In this capacity, he leads a team that is responsible for innovation, research, risk measurement, regime analysis and exploring alternative data using quantitative and statistical learning techniques.
Dave has been focused on acquiring data for varied investment strategies since 2012 and was, most recently, Head of Data Acquisition at Coatue. Before joining Coatue, Dave was an early member of the data organization at Citadel and worked to onboard market/alternative data across fundamental and quantitative strategies. He began working with alternative and non-traditional data as a Business Development Associate at ITG Investment Research (now M Science) and has worked on the buy-side since 2015.
Chandra Sinnathuray is a Partner at Broad Peak and is the Chief Operating Officer and General Counsel of the firm. Chandra has overall responsibility for the day-to-day management and administration of Broad Peak including finance, operations, risk, legal, compliance, technology, human resources and investor relations. Prior to joining Broad Peak, Chandra was at Deutsche Bank in Asia for nearly three years structuring private and public proprietary investments and financings across equities and credit. Before that, Chandra was at Goldman Sachs in Asia for seven years and worked in a number of different businesses. Chandra started his career with Linklaters. Chandra holds an LLB (Hons) from University College London and is a Solicitor of England and Wales.
Daryl is Head of Research at Neudata. He and his team are responsible for researching and discovering alternative datasets for a wide range of asset managers worldwide. In doing so, Neudata are able to deliver objective advice to clients on exactly which datasets are most appropriate for their investment strategy.
Avinash leads on the analysis of Fable’s data to generate investment insights and trends, with a particular focus on their application to the equity market.
Avinash has experience working as an equity analyst in Australia and the UK, most recently at Macquarie Group. Avinash has covered, analysed and valued publicly listed companies across multiple sectors including Fintech and Technology, where he provided investment insights to fund management clients.
Avinash is a CFA Charterholder and has a Bachelor of Commerce (Finance) and Bachelor of Engineering (First Class Honours) from Monash University, Australia. Avinash also has a keen interest in investing, technology and data analytics, most recently completing a fintech programme at Oxford University.
Vlasios is the Chief Data Officer at Argus Media. Vlasios is responsible for the data and data science strategy. Vlasios has expertise in data science for commodity markets to illuminate trading, hedging and risk management. He is the co-author of two books — one on applied data science and one on energy markets. Vlasios joined Argus Media from Standard Chartered Bank where he was the head of the quantitative modelling and analytics team.
Ian heads the Client Engagement group at Neudata, as well as its busy programme of events. He has spent the last six years helping asset managers, investment banks and retailers to get value out of traditional and alternative data. Prior to that, Ian's experience encompassed analytical and commercial roles at Vodafone, Bank of Scotland and Liberty Mutual.
Ian holds an MA in Mathematics from the University of Oxford, and a Saltire Fellowship in Entrepreneurship from Babson College, Massachusetts.
Previously, Nick worked on the buy-side for seven years, where he researched equities as a generalist. Nicholas is now focused solely on app analytics and the value-add that alternative data brings to the investment/due diligence process.
Artemiza has over 15 years of investment management experience. Before co-founding Integrated Quantitative Investments, Artemiza was most recently a quantitative researcher at Man Numeric. Her research efforts focused on alpha signals, data processing, and model construction. Prior to joining Man Numeric in 2015, Artemiza was at Russell Investments for over a decade, where, as senior researcher, she focused on quantitative manager selection. Artemiza has taught courses in finance, economics and statistics at the University of Washington and the University of Auckland, New Zealand. Artemiza has a PhD in finance from University of Washington, and an MSc and BSc(Hons) in mathematics from University of Auckland. Her academic research focused on asset pricing and portfolio optimization. She has published in prestigious academic journals such as the Journal of Finance, Journal of Portfolio Management, and Management Science.
Steffen is a director at Neudata, working predominately on relationship management with buy-side firms. Prior to Neudata, he worked at Preqin,who provide Private Equity and Hedge Fund research. Steffen holds a BSc and MSc in Economics, and is a CAIA charterholder.
